Escape Winter In Southeast Queensland

10/05/2019

Winter has arrived for most of Australia, but not for Southeast Queensland. Mild temperatures, sunny days, and smaller crowds make the winter months one of the better times to travel to the region! In fact escaping the winter around the rest of the country might actually have you fulfilling some of your summer cravings!

We have picked the best activities to do in Southeast Queensland in the cooler weather:

Whale Watching

Between June and November is the perfect time to catch the whales migrating as they move north to warmer waters or later in the season, as they return with their newborn calves.  Catch a glimpse of the beautiful creatures from one of our ocean facing rooms at ULTIQA Air on Broadbeach, or book a whale watching tour with one of the many reputable companies in each area. The best part is all resort locations provide tours or viewpoints to watch the whales.

Outdoor Markets

Outdoor markets thrive with fresh produce and unique handicrafts. The Sunshine Coast boasts two busy markets – Eumundi Markets and Caloundra Street Fair. Brisbane has the thriving South Bank markets and Eat street where you’re sure to find some hidden gems.  You will be spoilt for choice on the Gold Coast with a market in nearly every suburb. However, our picks are the Village Markets in Burleigh Heads and Carrara Markets.

Visit the local attractions

The Theme Parks on the Gold Coast are enjoyable all year round. In fact, in winter even more so with warm days and cooler nights. Why not check out Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast, or Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane. In each city, there are so many attractions for all ages, you are sure to find something to please the whole family.

Go for a swim

While the outside temperature is cool, the sea temperature is usually mild. Especially on the Sunshine Coast where the water temperature can sometimes be warmer than the outside air. On a beautiful sunny day, you’ll be asking what winter?

Or enjoy a swim in the pool. The following resorts also have a heated swimming pool:

  • ULTIQA Air on Broadbeach
  • ULTIQA Beach Haven on Broadbeach
  • ULTIQA Freshwater Point Resort
  • ULTIQA Shearwater Resort

So why not go for a dip!

Whatever you love to do, Southeast Queensland is the perfect place to do it during the dreaded winter season.  Spend time outside and soak up the last bit of great weather before you head home to ugg boots and heavy jackets.  While you are here, enjoy the comforts of home at one of our beautifully appointed ULITQA Hotel & Resorts.
